Highway 36

Located near Hannibal, Mo
They appear on US Highway 36 between Hannibal and Springfield, Illinois. In the 1950’s, a young couple were on their way to their senior prom when they’re car broke down on the side of the highway. They apparently decided to walk to a nearby service station, but were hit and killed from a passing vehicle. Truckers often see a vintage 1950’s car broke down on the side of the road and a young couple walking not too far ahead. When the trucker looks back in the mirror at them, they simply vanish. Hundreds of truckers and probably many more drivers have seen them. They are always on the same stretch of roadway and have been known to switch sides in the blink of an eye.
