This Bed and Breakfast is the home to a young man named George, who committed suicide after the young lady he intended to marry jilted him. She happened to live across the street. He has been seen around the house and walking in front of the Buford House. The doorbell rings in the middle of the night but no one is there. Guests have experienced knocking on the walls and the faucet in the bathroom down the hall turning itself of and on. Strange lights are said to be seen and cold spots that move around. He also likes to touch young women and pull their hair. George’s ghost has been seen staring out the window to his former girlfriend’s house. The ghost of a old woman haunts an upstairs room. She has repeatedly told people that it was her room and they needed to leave. They have another playful ghost that likes to play hide and seek with items. They tell of one instance where a woman was visiting with her family and her wallet was suddenly missing. They searched and searched but could never find it. Finally, they decided to try again before leaving and found it under the bed, money, cards, everything…intact. It wasn’t there before but it was there now!!
Booneville Mo
Now closed down, this former military school has several haunted locations. In the old band barracks, there is a ghost clad in black known as the shadow. It is seen in the hallway and will open windows and slam doors. You can also hear footsteps walking the floor. In the “A” barracks, there is a Civil War soldier seen in a doorway. In the “D” barracks, the ghost of a cadet that was killed from a hazing can be seen standing in the window at night time, this was at a time when the barracks were closed. On the old bridge leading to the golf course, the ghost of a female cadet that was killed in the late 1980’s can be seen. A spirit of a cadet was murdered in the kitchen area also haunts there.
Branson, Mo
Off Sycamore Church Road, off Highway 248, near Branson, is an old Indian trail used to pass by this road near the old town of Garber. People have seen the imprints of saddleblankets and handprints in the dust on the backs of cars after driving this road. Strange sounds have been heard at night.
The ghost of a climber has allegedly been seen by other climbers, two of whom in 1975 claimed to have shared a snow hole with the ghost during their climb. Some who have seen him believe this is the ghost of climber Andrew Irvine, who disappeared in an attempt to summit the mountain with George Mallory in 1924. Though George Mallory’s body was found in 1999, Andrew Irvine’s body has never been found.
Toronto, Canada
Local legend purports the lighthouse tower to be haunted. In 1815 the first keeper, J.P. Radan Muller was murdered. It was thought to have been drunken soldiers from Fort York who were looking for bootlegged beer. They chased him up the stairs and knocked him unconscious and then chopped up his body and buried him. The soldiers were charged with his murder but were later acquitted. In 1893, George Durnan found a coffin buried in the sand nearby that contained a jawbone. It wasn’t clear whether this belonged to Muller. The sound of moaning can be heard on misty nights and some people claim to see an apparition wandering the grounds.
